My colleague Andrew Harris, just posted a blog listing some of his experiences optimising campaigns for the Google Display Network.

Display (along with mobile) is one of the key growth areas highlighted in last week’s Q3 earnings call, so it’s essential to know how this channel performs.
After some fine tuning, the GDN network can deliver some competitive CPA, but don’t think you can simply re-purpose you text ads. As Andy says:
“…analysis indicates that image adverts will outperform text ads for most sectors. Image adverts on average will result in a 320% increase in CTR% and a 68% reduction in CPC.”
