Awards – the alternative to industry best practice

Next month will see the second UK Search Awards, following hot on the heels of the inaugural European Search Awards, held in Amsterdam in May.

It’s been great to be involved in both events since I thoroughly believe awards can be one of the more effective ways of helping an industry become more professional. When I was part of the SEMPO team we were often asked what the organisation could do to better regulate the industry and how it could define best practice. Both of these aims are fraught with difficulty and cost, since they require an agreement on what “best practice” actually is and the extensive policing of these.

Awards are a much simpler mechanic since they aim to showcase “what good looks like” as opposed to “outing” the more dubious work in the industry. cheap nike air max 97
